Spies, Lies and Deception

Imperial War Museum

Sneak a peak at some clandestine objects and stories.

Content

The exhibition aims to lift the veil from the secret activities of espionage but understandably fails to reveal much that isn't already known to anyone with a light interest in the subject matter.

A few real gadgets are presented which are some of the highlights, but most objects are just to illustrate some case studies such as a jacket or letter.

The case studies are interesting and informative, and the less you know the more you'll enjoy the exhibition, but it didn't do much more than repeat some well known history alongside a few relevant but unsurprising artefacts.

It's OK, it's not bad, it's just not going to surprise many people.

Presentation

The information was clear, and structured in a way where you could delve more into a display if you were interested, or just get a shorter overview if you wanted to move on quicker.

Some case studies were laid out in an L shape which naturally made it difficult for multiple people to take in the content but it's not too busy so you can move about and come back to busier sections.
